4 Tips for Improving Your Home’s Air Balancing and Comfort

Air balancing your home ensures that the supply and return airflow are properly balanced. When they aren’t, the conditioned air doesn’t circulate properly, leaving some areas of your home too cool or too hot. Improve your home’s air balancing and comfort by implementing these four simple tips in Spring Valley, NV:

Change Your Filter Frequently

Clogged and neglected air filters are one of the most common causes of improper air balancing. If you have a ductless system, plan to wash each indoor unit’s filter about every two weeks.

Most central HVAC systems have disposable filters that may need changing as frequently as every 30 days. The filter size, design and your home’s air quality will determine how long a filter lasts. Check it every month to ensure you’re changing it before it can strain your HVAC system.

Keep Vents Open and Clear

Closing vents will change the balance between positive and negative air pressure and restrict where conditioned air flows. Keep all of your home’s vents open, even in areas that don’t see much use. Ensure each vent has at least six inches of clearance above and around it to allow proper supply flow.

Have Professionals Clean Your Ducts

Ducts around your home can clog with a wide range of contaminants, restricting airflow. It’s important to schedule professional duct cleaning at least every three to five years. If you do indoor projects that create a lot of dust, have professional service technicians clean them more often.

Schedule Routine HVAC Maintenance

Your aging system will slowly lose its efficiency. A maintenance service technician helps maintain the system’s airflow when they:

  • Clean the heat exchanger.
  • Clean the evaporator coil.
  • Clean the circulating fan wheel.
  • Balance the circulating fan wheel.
  • Test the circulating fan motor.

Help your HVAC system continue circulating conditioned air around your home evenly throughout the year. Call today to schedule your AC or furnace maintenance appointment with one of our service technicians at Super Service Cooling & Heating.
